How the three options compare
What Google Meet does on its own
Captions in Google Meet are built to be read in the moment, not condensed afterwards. Even with captions switched on, nobody leaves that Thursday call holding a list of decisions, because the caption track is not kept and there is nothing left for a summariser to work from.
Google Meet can show captions and, for a limited set of pairs, translated captions. They are read on screen while the call runs: nothing is spoken back in the other language and nothing is left as a file afterwards.

How to set it up
MeetVoice is a Chrome extension plus a companion desktop app. The extension reads the Google Meet tab you already have open and the desktop app coordinates the session from your machine, so no extra participant is added to the call.
Step 1Activate a plan that includes the notes feature
Install MeetVoice from the Chrome Web Store together with the desktop app, then activate any paid plan. The 30-minute trial covers live translation and transcripts, but not the generated notes.
Step 2Set the two meeting languages once
Pick the client's language and yours in the MeetVoice panel. The pair is remembered, so a call that repeats every week does not have to be reconfigured before each occurrence.
Step 3Open the notes when the call ends
After you stop the session, ask for the notes from the transcript panel. Topics, decisions and action items appear in both meeting languages, ready to paste into the recap you would otherwise write by hand.
What usually goes wrong
- Whatever Google Meet shows you stays inside the call window: nothing is spoken back in the other language, and nothing is left to read once the call ends.
- Whoever takes the notes stops taking part in the discussion; whoever takes part writes nothing down.
- Notes written in one of the two meeting languages get skimmed by the people who work in the other one.

Are the notes included in the free trial?
No. The 30-minute trial covers live subtitles, voice-over and the transcript. The generated notes come with any paid plan, so you need an active subscription before the notes appear.
Where do the action items come from?
From the transcript of that one call and nothing else. There is no shared history across meetings and no outside context, so a commitment nobody said out loud will not turn up in the list.
Can I still get the full transcript as well?
Yes. The notes sit alongside the transcript rather than replacing it, so you can export the full text as PDF, SRT or plain text and keep the short version for the recap email.
Does a bot join the meeting to take the notes?
No. MeetVoice runs in your browser and in a desktop app on your own computer, so the participant list stays exactly as it was. That also matters in organizations where administrators restrict guest apps from joining calls.
